Polyester sewing thread is a material which consumes a large amount of garment accessories. Reasonable calculation of sewing thread consumption is not only convenient for costume cost accounting, but also helpful for the planning and science of production management, as well as for garment quality management.

Calculating method of polyester sewing thread quantity

The calculation of sewing thread quantity is obtained by the common estimation method of enterprises. That is, the length of sewing line is measured by CAD software, and the total length is multiplied by a coefficient (usually 2.5-3 times the total length of sewing line).

The sewing consumption of a garment = the sum of the sewing consumption of all parts of the garment * (1 + wastage rate).

Estimation method can not accurately obtain the amount of sewing thread. There are two scientific methods for calculating the amount of sewing thread:

1.Formula method

The principle of formula method is to adopt mathematical geometric curve length method for polyester sewing thread trace structure, that is, to observe the geometric shape of coils crosslinked in sewing material, and to calculate the consumption of a circular line by using geometric formula.

By calculating the length of a stitch coil (including the length of the stitch coil + the amount of thread used at the intersection of the stitches), the amount of stitches per meter is converted to the amount of stitches used, and then multiplied by the length of the overall stitches of the garment.

2. Seam-length ratio

The ratio of stitch length to stitch length is the ratio of stitch length to consumed stitch length.

The ratio can be determined by actual production or calculated by formula method. There are two methods to test the length of sewing line and the length of sewing line.

Sewing Length Fixing Method: Measure a certain length of stitches on the Pagoda line and mark them with color before starting sewing. After sewing, measure the number of stitches formed by this length, and then calculate the amount of stitches consumed per meter.

Fixed-length stitching method: Firstly, stitches of different thickness are sewed, and then a section of the stitches with better shape is cut out, and the stitches are carefully dismantled, and the length or weight of the stitches are measured, thus the amount of stitches (length or weight) per meter is calculated.

Because "stitch-length ratio" calculation of sewing thread consumption is relatively simple, and the calculation results are accurate, widely applicable to garment manufacturers.
