Selection of sewing threads

Sewing thread is a material that consumes a large amount of garment accessories. Reasonable calculation of the amount of sewing thread is not only convenient for costing, but also for strengthening the planning and scientificity of production management, as well as for garment quality management. Generally, the grade of sewing thread, the use of raw materials and the fineness of yarn count are all marked on the label of sewing thread. It is helpful for us to choose and use sewing thread reasonably. Sewing thread labels usually include four items (arranged in sequence): yarn thickness, color, raw materials and processing methods.

In the prescribed conditions, the ability to form good stitches while maintaining certain mechanical properties, called seamability, is a comprehensive index for evaluating the quality of stitches. According to the material quality, thickness, organization, color, sewing style, sewing equipment or means, the sewing thread and machine needle matching the type and specifications can generally follow the following principles:

1. Coordination with fabric properties ensures the unity of shrinkage, heat resistance, wear resistance and durability, and avoids the shrinkage caused by excessive differences between threads and fabrics. In general, fine thread is used for soft and thin materials, small size machine needle is used for soft and thick materials, and large size machine needle is used for hard and thick materials.

2. Coordination with sewing equipment. Left-turn sewing is selected for the flat sewing machine. The stitching can be twisted to maintain the strength of the sewing line.

3. Coordination with the form of stitching (bandage) sewing machine uses fine cotton thread, which makes the stitching material not easy to deform and wrinkle, and makes the chain stitching beautiful and comfortable. Double stitches should be made with good extensibility. The crotch seam and shoulder seam should be stitched firmly. The wearable suture should be chosen for button eyeliner.

4. Coordination with garment types special purpose garments, such as elastic clothing needs elastic sewing, fire fighting clothing uses heat-resistant, flame-retardant and water-proof sewing.
