Gold and silver yarns are yarns made of gold and silver as main raw materials, or thin strip films with gold and silver luster. 

Traditional gold and silver wires are divided into flat and round gold yarns. Gold foil is glued to paper and cut into thin strips about 0.5 mm to form flat gold yarn. Then the flat gold yarn is wrapped around cotton silver yarn or silk silver yarn to form round gold yarn. 

Nowadays, some valuable traditional fabrics such as Yunjin still use the traditional gold and silver silk mentioned above. 

Gold and silver yarns of chemical fiber film developed in 1940s are made of two layers of butyl acetate cellulose film, one layer of aluminium foil, and then cut into thin strips. Later, polyester gold and silver yarn was produced by aluminizing and adding color coatings with polyester film.

Gold and silver yarn (silk) series products are made of polyester film, vacuum aluminium plating, coating and dyeing, etc. 

They are soft in texture. Gold and silver yarn (silk) with gorgeous color covers M, MH, MX and MS (computer embroidery) series. 

They are widely used in manufacturer's standard, wool yarn, knitted fabric, warp knitted fabric, ribbon and woven fabric. 

Embroidery, socks, accessories, crafts, Christmas supplies, fashion, decorative cloth, ties, gift packaging, etc.

Gold and silver yarn is the twisted filament of gold and silver silk + polyester or rayon, which is mainly used in computer embroidery and process accessories.

Gold and silver yarn (M-type) products are made of polyester film (PET) by aluminizing or silver plating, dyeing, large cutting and subdividing. 

They are colorful, with silver, gold, illusion, transparency and other color categories. 

They can also be produced according to customer samples. At present, the commonly used thickness is 12u, 15u, 23u (25u), 30U (illusion, pearl) and so on. 

Width is divided into 1/100","1/85","1/69","1/64","1/50","1 mm, 2 mm and so on. 

In addition to the above specifications, it can also be processed according to the special requirements of customers.

Composition of different gold and silver yarns

M-type (flat yarn): The polyester film is cut directly by a slitting machine with very high precision.

Mainly used of silver yarn for lace, ribbon, trademark, embroidery, velvet, hosiery, scarf, warp knitting, sofa, table towel, carpet, crafts, Christmas gifts, hair ornaments, kitchen washing supplies, etc.

MS type: Gold and silver embroidery yarn thread has many colors and gorgeous color. 

Generally, the width of gold and silver thread is 1/69_1/100. It is made by merging gold and silver thread with other fibers such as 600D, 150D_120D or 75D. It is produced by wrapping a polyester/rayon thread with a gold and silver yarn thread.

Usually used in manufacturers standard, warp knitted fabrics, fabrics, ribbons, fashion, decorative cloth, embroidery, socks, accessories, etc.

STA (full embroidery yarn): 1 polyester/rayon yarn and 1 gold and silver yarn are wrapped without gap.

According to the size of the encapsulated gap, it can be divided into:

STJ (half-wrapped embroidery thread): 1 polyester/rayon/sewing thread and 1 gold and silver thread are wrapped in gaps.

The product is cylindrical and has good strength. It is widely used in computer embroidery, hand embroidery, fishing gear, trademark, ribbon, sweater, warp knitting, etc.

MX (double envelope/composite wire): Double envelope gold and silver yarn series products are processed into soft and gorgeous gold and silver yarn by vacuum aluminium plating, coating and coloring process of polyester film. It is produced by two polyester/rayon threads embracing one gold and silver yarn threads in two directions.

The products are elegant, generous and gorgeous. They are mainly used in trademarks, ribbons, warp knitting, yarn dyeing, jacquard head, embroidery and sweaters.

MH type (single envelope): The single-envelope gold and silver yarn products are made by twisting single-strand gold and silver filament slices with polyester, cotton or other yarns. It is produced by twisting a polyester/rayon yarn and a gold and silver yarn.

The product has soft texture and brilliant color. It is an ideal raw material for plain weaving, knitted fabrics and woolen sweaters. It can also be used in scarves, silk stockings and other textile industries.

Other types:

Multi-stranded yarn: It is composed of multi-stranded gold and silver yarns.

Making of gold and silver yarn

Step 1: Coloring: A process of coating dyes with resins and solvents on the surface of an electroplated film.

Step 2: Cut the raw materials into small rolls of different widths according to the specifications of the gold and silver yarn.

Step 3: Segmentation: Cut the small rolls of raw materials into several finished or semi-finished gold and silver yarns.

Step 4: Coiling: The yarn is coiled from the original paper tube on the suitable twisted bakelite tube.

Step 5: Twisting: M-type gold and silver filament and semi-finished yarn are combined to form H and X-type yarns.

Step 6: Embroidery yarn: M-type gold and silver filament is twisted with a single rayon or polyester filament to form L-and J-type yarns.

Step 7: Steaming yarn: MH, L&J type gold and silver filaments are put into the steaming basket and sent to the steaming boiler for high temperature setting, so that it will not turn again.
